Australian Catholic University (ACU) is one of the leading Catholic universities in the world, with more than 34,000 students and 2500 staff. It has grown rapidly over recent years with seven campuses around Australia and a recently opened campus in Rome. ACU prides itself on offering a welcoming environment for all – irrespective of socio-economic background, religious beliefs or aspirations.
The position is based at the University’s major campus in North Sydney and reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor. The DVC leads an integrated suite of student, learning and teaching services; including libraries, First Peoples and equity. These encompass the full student life cycle and experience as well as the quality of teaching and learning processes, programs and outcomes. While the portfolio has a strong reputation internally, there is capacity to innovate further.
The role is core to ACU’s ethos of supporting diversity and embracing students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and makes a significant contribution to the Catholic identity and values of ACU. It calls for a collaborative academic leader with a background in teaching and learning at a strategic level and a demonstrated commitment to the primacy of students.
